Ahh.. nothing like spending other people’s money! Here are a few of the books I picked up today on my spending spree (courtesy of the art department at school) at Borders. The ‘ART’ book by Andrew Graham Dixon is super comprehensive and breaks down a lot of great art works and analyses their elements (great for senior art students). ‘The Art Book for Children’ is wonderful too because it also breaks down many great works – but it’s really simplified which is fantastic for the little ones.
Stumbled across the Handmade in Melbourne book and thought some of my students (my seniors) might be interested in seeing what their fellow Melbournians are creating and selling. Hmmm.. this book might have been more for me, if I’m honest. hehe. A ‘teacher’s aide’ is what you might call it!
Ahh.. The Art of Looking Sideways – I’ve wanted to buy this book for years! Full of amazing quotes, sayings, drawings and imagery designed (and not designed) to inspire. A book of ‘sparking’ points! Love them!
I also bought a whole bunch of DVDs too – PLUS, I had money left over! Anyone know of any great Art books they’d like to recommend for my next shopping spree? Post them below!
Hi Adelle, I have the Art of looking Sideways also. I cant say you can sit and read it just pick it up now and them. I think creativity is all about inspiration and working from an unconscious level, like children, but also having belief in yourself. Oh yeh! It’s definitely not a sit and read cover to cover kind of book! haha.. but it’s pretty fun to pick up from time to time.
